Job Summary

PARALEGAL

At ServiceMac, our paralegal will perform substantive legal work under the guidance and supervision of our in-house counsel.  This role will support our counsel by managing, monitoring, and tracking litigated files.  The Paralegal will review, draft, and manage corporate contracts, and support in-house counsel on other projects as needed.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Litigation Related: Manage, monitor, and track litigated files including, without limitation:
    • Researching and evaluating findings by attorneys or business partners
    • Organizing case materials and research to be presented to upper management
    • Reviewing and processing outside counsel invoices, and
    • Working with clients and servicing systems to retrieve and provide documentation and loan-level data to outside counsel.
  • Non-Litigation Related:
    • Review, draft, and manage corporate contracts including, without limitation, drafting, reviewing, and revising various client-facing and vendor-facing contracts; generating contracts from standardized contract templates for multiple business units; and summarizing contract obligations for business partners.
    • Support in-house counsel, on research projects regarding servicing issues, contract questions, and pre-litigation customer disputes
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four-year degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred
  • At least 3 years of litigation and contract related paralegal work experience in the mortgage industry
  • Knowledge of legal pleadings and ability to review and decipher allegations and issues
  • Proficient in contract drafting, reviewing, revising and interpretation
  • Knowledge pertaining to the legal process and procedures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with mortgage servicing systems preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Advanced interpersonal, analytical, presentational, problem-solving, and communication skills
