Gallo Glass is seeking a versatile and innovative Controls Specialist to join our cross-functional team. In this role, you will engage in a variety of assignments, including controls design, programming, and the deployment of technology essential to our operational systems. Your expertise will be pivotal in investigating new ideas and opportunities to enhance our competitiveness, improve throughput, and reduce operational costs.

 

As a Controls Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting electrical design, panel construction, machine installation, and start-up systems. You will implement control platforms and networks to ensure reliability and security while adhering to Gallo’s corporate standards. Your role will include designing electrical schematics, PLC programming, and HMI design, evaluating vendor capabilities, and ensuring that performance goals and project deliverables are met. You will create comprehensive project proposals outlining tasks, scope, budget, and critical requirements for various project phases.

 

Your technical acumen will make you the go-to liaison for offering recommendations and proposals to successfully carry out organizational initiatives. You will collaborate with customers, departments, and other organizations to meet functional specifications, prepare insightful presentations for department leaders, and provide recommendations on complex operational issues. By participating in cross-functional planning sessions, you will help develop ideas and concepts that drive our business forward.

 

Your role will also involve recommending and implementing technology improvements, participating in the development of new standards and procedures, and leading research and analytical studies. You will test new technologies to validate their benefits and review proposals from outside vendors. By assimilating and analyzing technical and cost data, you will evaluate the feasibility of new systems or processes.

 

In addition to your technical duties, you will oversee vendors and contractors, lead projects, and develop, coach, and mentor peers and subordinate staff. What You Need

  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree plus 4 years of experience in controls programming, plc controls and logic circuits reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High School Diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 8 years of experience in controls programming plc controls and logic circuits, reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Understands basic engineering and can follow standard work to achieve goals.
  • Effectively presents ideas verbally.
  • Must demonstrate active and hands-on programming experience in the past 10 years.
  • Skilled in the use of MS Excel, MS Outlook and MS PowerPoint at an intermediate level.
  • Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

 

What Will Set You Apart

  • BS in Engineering plus 7 years Engineering controls programming plc controls and logic circuits experience; OR with 4 years' experience with Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradly PLC, and 3 years Siemens Simatic S7 and PCS7 Controllers: OR MS in Engineering plus 5 years Engineering controls programming plc controls and logic circuits experience with 4 years' experience with Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradly PLC, and 3 years Siemens Simatic S7 and PCS7 Controllers.
  • Experience in product development, concept development, cost estimating or a combination of these.
  • Working knowledge of Simatic Step 7. 
  • Working knowledge of Fanuc Controller.
  • Working knowledge of industrial equipment instrumentation.
  • Technical Writing skills.

 

Compensation:

  • Hiring Salary Range Posted: $100,600 - $151,000 / year
  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
