Permanent, full time
Location – Hybrid, Vancouver 2 days in the office
Salary CAD $95,000-$104,000

About the role:

As Senior Ops Accountant you’ll have responsibility for providing accounting, financial planning, and analysis support for Joint Venture Partnerships. Partnering with the accounting team, Senior Legal Counsel and internal Partnership Board members, you’ll help to challenge and deliver the objectives for the teams, whilst ensuring Partnership reporting requirements are met.
Some other responsibilities in this role are:

  • To provide a range of financial insight and analysis for Joint Venture Partnerships (4 pellet plants)
  • Have regular interface with Finance colleagues within North America and Drax Joint Venture Partnership Board Members
  • Manage completion of month-end reporting packages for all Partnerships to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Complete monthly/annual cash forecasting for each partnership, work closely with the FP&A team, and Treasury team
  • Complete the quarterly Partnership Board Packages and work collaboratively with all teams involved
  • Work closely with FP&A team to understand and update budgets by using Group forecasting and reporting tools to support Partnership reporting
  • Monitor financial health of Partnerships and to collaborate with colleagues across different teams (operations, sales & logistics, finance) to analyse cost savings opportunities

Who we’re looking for:

You’ll be a Qualified Accountant (5+ years’ experience) with comprehensive post-qualified experience and have experience in a relevant financial environment (i.e. financial accounting/reporting, cash forecasting, budgeting). You’ll need to have experience of dealing with, and presenting to, senior stakeholder and be a highly motivated, confident, and enthusiastic self-starter that can energise others with excellent networking and communication skills.

Ideally you’ll have experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and you’ll need to have the ability to meet demanding deadlines and adapt quickly to changing business needs.

You’ll likely be an expert in Excel, and MS Office Suite. Proficiency with enterprise planning tools such as Planful, spotlight, etc. and reporting/dashboarding tools including PowerBI is considered an asset.

You’ll be a strong team player and have the ability to develop good working relationships at all levels within and outside the company.
