General Summary of Position:
  • The Diabetes Team Outpatient Program Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) recognized outpatient diabetes education program; and is the primary instructor for the program.  Also provides backup coverage to the inpatient diabetes education team. 
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition or nursing is required. 
Experience:
  • Approximately three to four years of progressively more responsible job related experience in program management and care of people with chronic diseases. 

Certification/Registration/Licensure:

  • Licensure as a registered dietitian or nurse in the District of Columbia and certification as a diabetes educator or certification eligible as a diabetes educator are required.  If hired as certification eligible, employee must obtain certification within twelve months of hire date; failure to obtain certification within the twelve months will be grounds for termination.Dietitians required to be registered by the credentialing Commission on Dietetic Registration.
