CarMax Auto Finance (CAF) has a long-standing commitment to compliance and conducting business with integrity. As such, CAF Compliance Audit, in partnership with CAF Legal, performs a variety of testing/audits to assess CAF’s compliance with applicable state and federal laws, regulations, frameworks or other guidelines as well as internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with requirements applicable to auto finance companies. As Program Manager, you will work with associates in different roles throughout the organization and at all levels in CAF and CarMax to assess the company’s compliance with regulatory requirements and policies.

What you’ll do – Essential Responsibilities

  • Supervise the planning and execution of compliance audits and provide guidance CAF Compliance Auditors.
  • Provide support, as needed, for all audit meetings including audit kick-off, status, walkthroughs, planning, wrap-up and report reviews.
  • Supervise and review testing to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations in a complex multi-state environment.
  • Develop value-added services (i.e. process improvements and best practice policies) for different operational areas, with guidance from Senior Compliance Management, to make recommendations to ensure compliance or process improvements.
  • Supervise, help facilitate and review documentation supporting external examinations by regulatory bodies, conduit banks and securitization parties.
  • Review the work of and provide guidance to newer auditors with guidance from Senior Compliance Management.
  • Review draft audit reports and workpapers to ensure documentation is in compliance with CAF CMS standards.
  • Develop audit techniques such as sampling and data analytics to execute audits effectively and efficiently.
  • Develop and facilitate training to continue to develop CAF Compliance Auditors.
  • Partner with associates in Treasury, Internal Audit, Financial Reporting, Accounting and external auditors/examiners and others as needed to facilitate requests made by or required of those groups.
  • Take ownership and ensure execution of other administrative/projects tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field and 5+ years of audit or compliance experience, public or large corporate internal audit experience.
  • CPA, CIA, or CISA a plus.
  • Strong background in internal controls and compliance. Experience with SOX 404 compliance a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team setting as well as independently.
  • Ability to interact effectively with various levels of management in business units.
  • Innovative problem-solving skills.
