To follow the instructions and guidelines outlines by the Chef or Lead Cook for the shift. Assist with production and prep work as needed.

The Prep Cook position assists with the production and fabrication of food products for the restaurant. Ensures the following of and compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.


Essential Functions:

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food

  • Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables

  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients

  • Assist in the preparation of food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist

  • Prepare cold foods

  • Properly wrap, label and store foods

  • Set-up and break down work station(s)

  • Wash and disinfect kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment

  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures

  • Complete safety training and certifications

  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional

  • Speak with others using clear and professional language

  • Write labels using clear and understandable writing

  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationships with others

  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.

  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.

  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.

  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by management.

  • Follow department procedures to maintain supplies, back stock and coolers and to track product transfers and spoilage.

Stand and walk for extended periods of time. Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders. Bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders and squat. Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds.  Push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds. Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation. Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezer, outdoors, etc.).
