Respiratory Therapist

Summary:

Provides respiratory care to patients including hospital-based and free-standing emergency/trauma centers. Delivers respiratory care services under the order of the physician and in accordance with protocols established for facility, healthcare providers or the board and functions in situations of unsupervised patient contact requiring individual judgement. Performs noninvasive and invasive procedures with minimal oversight.

Required Education: Technical Program Completion or Degree Specialization in Respiratory Therapy; Preferred Education: Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy.

Required Credentials: RRT (Respiratory Therapy) - License; Active NBRC Credential for RRT; BLS (Basic Life Support); ACLS (Cardiovascular) - within 30 days of hire/transfer date; PALS (Pediatric) - within 6 months - if working in pediatric critical care; NRP (Neonatal) - within 6 months- if working in neonatal critical care.  

Preferred memberships: AARC (American Association for Respiratory Care) - FSRC (The Florida Society for Respiratory Care).

Required specific skills also include Advanced Respiratory assessment and evaluation; Perform diagnostic testing; and Emergency care/Adult critical care.

Shift 1 = Days, 2 = Evenings,  3 = Nights,  4 = Varies
