Description:
The Patient Support Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse. This is a dual position, including the job responsibilities of a Patient Care Technician and a Monitor Technician or a Unit Secretary. Required Certification includes Basic Life Support from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network. Required Certification/Licensure includes State of Florida CNA, Paramedic, or Emergency Medical Technician, or a current LPN or RN Nursing student with successful completion of Nursing Fundamentals. Required: BayCare Patient Care Technician Course or successful completion of Nursing Fundamentals (Registered or Licensed Practical) or six months of clinical experience in an acute care or 1 year in SNF experience in lieu of technical training * If no experience/training in sterile technique; insertion and removal of urinary catheters, and IV reseal removal ? a BayCare PCT Course and accompanying competencies must be completed within 90 days of hire.
