Responsibilities:

  • Assists providers with patient examination, procedures and treatment, specifically fracture care.
  • Responsible for patient histories, diagnostic imaging studies, follows up on test orders and reports results to provider, provides and maintains patient education materials, maintains medical equipment, and orders clinical supplies.
  • Creates and maintains patient electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Complies with all OSHA regulations.
  • Will perform all casting activities, which will be greater than 50% of activities, including proper application and removal to ensure proper fracture care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required within six (6) months of hire date:

  1. Successful completion of provider directed Ortho Training Program to include demonstration of proficiency of cast application for common fractures and cast care education to care givers.
  2. Approved Medical Assistant Certification or proof of active license/certification or EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) or NREMT (Nationally Recognized Emergency Medical Technician) or Paramedic.
  3. Annual Competency evaluation must be passed to retain position.
