Responsibilities:
- Assists providers with patient examination, procedures and treatment, specifically fracture care.
- Responsible for patient histories, diagnostic imaging studies, follows up on test orders and reports results to provider, provides and maintains patient education materials, maintains medical equipment, and orders clinical supplies.
- Creates and maintains patient electronic medical record (EMR).
- Complies with all OSHA regulations.
- Will perform all casting activities, which will be greater than 50% of activities, including proper application and removal to ensure proper fracture care.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required within six (6) months of hire date:
- Successful completion of provider directed Ortho Training Program to include demonstration of proficiency of cast application for common fractures and cast care education to care givers.
- Approved Medical Assistant Certification or proof of active license/certification or EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) or NREMT (Nationally Recognized Emergency Medical Technician) or Paramedic.
- Annual Competency evaluation must be passed to retain position.
