Atlantic Health System is seeking a full-time Assistant Nurse Manager for 6C General Surgery Inpatient at Overlook MedicalCenter working primarily 7:00 pm - 7:30am. No weekends required, no on call required

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Job Function: 01. Able to function and troubleshoot independently and proactively, knowing when to ask for assistance. Facilitates resolutions to complex patient and or family situations (i. E., referrals) (e. G., physician, Social Work, Pastoral Care, etc.). Utilizes the escalating medical notification when needed Able to act as advocate to patientsAge Specific Competencies:

  • Job Function: 03. Assists in maintaining a collaborative relationship and open communication between physicians, team members, management, administration, and other units and programs. Represents the Unit Manager when providing on-shift leadership and coordination to meet the immediate and changing needs of all customers. Able to demonstrate ability/knowledge of problem solving in complex situations.Age Specific Competencies:
  • Job Function: 04. Assumes responsibility for organizing and staffing according to guidelines and patient needs Assigns available appropriate staff to meet the needs of all patients. Demonstrates an understanding of budgetary guidelines when allocating staff Coordinates use of on-call, overtime, benefit time Monitors schedule by shift, daily, and by matrix for accuracy and completeness. Assists with payroll as assigned by managerAge Specific Competencies:

  • Job Function: 06. Participates in Performance Improvement Identifies processes, which are in need of change and refers them to the appropriate person. Assists in the development and implementation of the unit based Performance Improvement Program. Incorporates the performance improvement philosophy in all actionsAge Specific Competencies:
  • Job Function: 07. Supports, implements, promotes, and coordinates projects and programs. Acts as a resource for policies, procedures, and protocols Identifies areas, activities and processes of potential and real risk and refers to the Infection Control, Occupational Health and/or Risk Management Department.Age Specific Competencies:
  • Job Function: 08. In collaboration with the Unit Manager takes an active part in the performance review process of Unit staff. Provides input and participates in the performance appraisal of employees by coaching, counseling, and documenting observations of employee performance under the supervision of the Unit Manager. Collaborates with the Unit Manager to develop employee action plans. Participates in direct employee oversight during the implementation of the action plan.
  • Job Function: 09. Demonstrates the commitment to continual learning and professional growth Participates in hospital-wide committees. Attends continuing education related to clinical and management competencies. Shares and incorporates into the work environment newly acquired knowledge.Age Specific Competencies:

Unit based Activities: Consistently responds to patients/families needs in a timely and courteous manner, focusing highly on patient satisfaction Assesses clinical pathways when monitoring patient outcomes ( i. E. CVA) Works collaboratively with Clinical Nurse Specialist/Educator



Qualifications

Education:


  • BSN Required

Required License:


  • Valid New Jersey Nursing License Required

Qualifications/Requirements:


  • BLS Required
  • CMSRN preferred

Relevant Experience:

  • 3-5 years of Acute care nursing experience
  • 1 year of nursing leadership preferred
