In accordance with detailed procedure, receives and directs all visitors to the Home. Provides courteous, fast and accurate telephone service.

Greets and directs visitors, first ascertaining if they have an appointment and then by phoning department involved if appropriate. Maintains neat and presentable reception area.
Assists Residents by providing location information relating to activities, religious services, office locations, etc., Assists Residents to and from elevator at meal times when necessary.
Maintains an awareness of Residents in lobby area, who may be confused and who attempt to wander from Home. Alerts Nursing of such potential incidents. Maintains current listing of Residents names and room numbers at the desk.
Maintains an awareness of arrivals and departures of Sister, Doctors, Residents, (non-hospital absences), Volunteers, Staff and Salesmen. Has them log in and out in the appropriate log book; also anticipated return time of Sisters, Key Lay Staff, Residents.
Informs appropriate department of any deliveries to front desk.
Connects incoming calls with person or office desired, paging if necessary, in accordance with outlined procedure. Takes and relays messages if callee not available. Checks OUT sheet to determine if party called is scheduled elsewhere.
Gives dialing instructions when necessary; obtains local numbers where they are not available to staff. Dials long distance and local calls as requested by Supervisor Department Heads or Administrator.
Seals outgoing mail and applies necessary postage. Sorts incoming mail and places in appropriate mail boxes.
Follows procedures established for the Switchboard/Receptionist in the Fire Safety Program.

Education Requirements
HS diploma or equivalent
Experience Requirements
One year general work experience including public contact and switchboard operation.
