What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. The Cardio-metabolic Disorder Biomarker Discovery team is searching for a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist. In this vital role you will perform research in cardio-metabolic disorders, including cardiovascular disease, heart failure, and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. You will contribute to the group’s mission to gain a deep understanding of disease biology, generate patient stratification hypothesis, and identify candidate pharmacodynamic and drug response biomarkers for portfolio projects. You will work in a highly-matrixed environment and collaborate with other functional areas including Discovery Research, Clinical Biomarker & Diagnostics, and Computational Biology.

Position Responsibilities

  • Make impactful scientific laboratory-based contributions to the research goals and breakthroughs of the Biomarker Discovery group.
  • Independently plan and perform laboratory experiments, analyze and interpret data, communicate results in team meetings, and participate in the writing of manuscripts for publication.

Basic Qualifications

Master’s degree and 3 years of scientific experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate in cell biology, immunology, biochemistry, human genetics and related fields. Research experiences in cardiometabolic diseases are preferred.

Expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Phenotypic and molecular analyses of primary tissue and blood samples by metabolic profiling, gene expression analysis, and next-generation sequencing;
  • biochemical and molecular biology techniques including cloning, siRNA or CRISPR technology, retroviral/lentiviral gene transfer;
  • hands-on experience with in vivo animal models of cardio-metabolic diseases;
  • knowledge of bioinformatics and integrated analysis of multi-omic data.
  • Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in research, exemplified by a strong publication record and/or significant contributions to a therapeutic development program.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable, highly motivated, creative, collaborative with ability to solve problems.
