The work location for this exciting opportunity is virtual. The selected candidate will work 100% remotely from home and can be located anywhere in the United States working East Coast hours.

About the job:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Social Engagement, the Director is a creative, confident, and organized leader who oversees social strategy and creative execution for social media campaigns and content at the American Red Cross, with a focus on blue sky initiatives. The Director will also manage a high performing virtually located team.

What you will be doing:
• Oversee the national social media content strategy, which includes managing the social media content calendar, leading content creation and development, managing two staff members and contractors, and working closely with stakeholders from the biomed, fundraising, corporate partnerships and marketing teams.
• Chair a cross-functional working group on enterprise social media strategy best practices. Membership includes our marketing, fundraising, blood collection and training services teams.
• Work with Communications Department leadership to offer advice and counsel for reputation management issues and help mitigate issues in the social space.
• Partner directly with contacts at Facebook/Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and LinkedIn to test and implement new tools and strategies.
• Manage the strategy and execution of social media benefits for corporate partners on the national branded accounts.
• Collaborate with the team's analyst to track metrics on campaign performance, summarize trends, and provide recommendations to leadership.
• Work collaboratively across organization to develop and innovative social strategies to support business goals.

What we need from you:
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent years of experience).
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in social media and editorial production in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field.
• Management Experience: Minimum 5 years of staff management required.
• Proficiency and proven success using and strategizing around social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok to achieve a business goal is essential.
• Candidate must be a strong writer and storyteller with a track record of creating innovative social-first content. Experience producing Instagram Stories and social video, as well as managing accounts with Sprout Social, a plus.
• Candidate must have the ability to collaborate and build positive relationships with people at all levels of a large, complex organization.
• Paid social strategy experience preferred.
• The desire to experiment and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment is essential.
• This position sometimes requires irregular or extended hours, especially during disasters or other emergencies.

The legal stuff:
Work Conditions: Work is performed indoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to emergency services relief work. May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout chapter jurisdiction, state and Red Cross system. Because the Red Cross is a disaster response organization, staff may be asked to be on 24-hour call during period of major disaster.

What's in it for you:
For those candidates located in Colorado or Connecticut, the annual salary range for this position is $90-100K. We do not offer an annual bonus for this role. Note that the American Red Cross sets salary ranges aligned to a specific geographic location in which the job or employee resides. The stated salary range in this posting is an average and may not be reflective of your individual circumstances. We will review specific salary information at the time of phone screening based upon your location.
