Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a qualified and motivated Water/Wastewaster Project Manager to become a key member of our Greater Virginia Water Business Line team, based in our Virginia Beach office. The qualified applicant will have experience in water/wastewater engineering and construction management principles, and will be familiar with the design, construction and operation of municipal water and/or wastewater treatment and conveyance infrastructure. The successful applicant will work in an interesting and rewarding consulting engineering environment and will have a demonstrated ability to work with existing clients to provide value-added solutions and to develop strong new client relationships. Key attributes of the position include:
  • Providing oversight and management for multiple projects/program of varying complexity and sensitivity
  • Working autonomously within established procedures and practices, with latitude to determine work priorities
  • Leading preparation of project deliverables using a team of technical and support staff
  • Assisting with marketing efforts and proposals to provide services or obtain funding for projects or programs
  • Providing management and guidance to subordinate managers, enforce company and project policies, and act as a primary liaison between AECOM and client interface
  • Sharing technical expertise and experience with others in the company via internal technical communication and presentations

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited university
  • 10+ years’ of relevant experience with minimum 5 years of demonstrated project or program management experience
  • Professional Engineer in Virginia or ability to obtain reciprocity within six (6) months of hire
  • Demonstrated experience in coordination with regulatory agencies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Project Management Professional or training in project management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well in teams
