AECOM is seeking a Transportation Communications Specialist for our office in Atlanta, GA.
This position is expected to begin in November 2022.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Develop content for multiple platforms that include blogs, promotional material, website copy articles, and interviews, as well as composing Twitter posts, Facebook, and other social media platform postings
Support district and statewide outreach efforts such as giving presentations, attending events and meetings to build awareness, make connections, and project the Department in a positive light
Provide updates and post content to social media outlets through Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms
Stay abreast of changes in media platforms and implement them in a way that will benefit the Department
Develop and maintain a guide to show and explain to the Department how different platforms can enhance the operation/business and make them known
Facilitate conversations and provide information
Gather information and analyze the current report and previous reports that indicate whether to stay on the same track or take a different route to best serve the Department and consumers’ needs
Interact with the media to provide help with details of incidents, and, where appropriate, provide video feeds from the ATMS
Monitor the ATMS and be abreast of district-wide traffic incidents, road closures, and construction reports
Assist the Department’s Media and Public Relations Specialist as directed
Maintain a log of position activities
Support emergency operations such as severe weather events
Support special events that generate high concentrated traffic such as, but not limited to, mobile operations at sporting events, political rallies, religious gatherings, etc.
Conduct tours for visitors to the Department’s TMC in Atlanta
Provide periodic training to media liaison backup person(s)
Facilitate the Department’s 511/TM Outreach program
Perform TM Operations, incident management, travel information dissemination, and customer service tasks, not explicitly identified, that fall within the scope of the project.
Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communication, Journalism, or related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Due to the nature of this job, U.S. citizenship is required
Experience with social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram
Experience in content production and communications campaign facilitation
Ability to synthesize information from multiple, diverse and simultaneous inputs, including computer databases, 2-way radios, and CCTV cameras
Proficient with computer applications such as Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer
