Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Transportation Civil Engineer to support our Intelligent Transportation System programs in our Philadelphia or Conshohocken, PA locations.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to
  • Works as part of a team and works independently in evaluating and applying Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) principles, standards, and criteria.
  • Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tasks.
  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
  • Identifies discrepancies in results.
  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
  • Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
  • Leads in the development of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) packages based upon agency standards and specifications.
  • Interacts directly with clients at project meetings.
  • Adheres to project schedules, and budgets, and addresses issues in coordination with the PM.
  • Prepares technical reports and papers for clients and/or internal distribution.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Experience with ITS design
  • Engineer in Training Certificate
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ITS Design experience as well as experience with state DOT’s (preferably PennDOT and Delaware)
  • P.E. License (preferably from PA or Delaware) or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Project experience with: State DOT projects (preferably PennDOT), City of Philadelphia, and/or the PA Turnpike
  • Experience with PS&E package preparation for ITS Projects
