AECOM is actively seeking a Site Supervisor (in Edmonton or Calgary) to lead remedial construction programs such as environmental drilling investigations and remediation including excavation and soil handling. The successful candidate will be working within a team of other technicians and junior engineers under the supervision of professional engineers and geologists. The position will involve assisting in all aspects of environmental projects with a focus on field work including subcontractor coordination.

This position is a full time role and is expected to begin in October 2022.

Job Description
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Groundwater Monitoring – purging and sample collection from monitoring wells
  • Drilling – environmental drilling, ground disturbance procedures, soil description and monitoring well installation
  • Excavation – directing subcontractors, analyzing changes in conditions, water management, shoring, communication with project management, critical thinking and problem solving, documenting adherence to standard field procedures.
  • Soil sampling – field screening, soil sample collection procedures
  • Field notes – taking organized and details field notes, recording observations
  • Safety – leading and participating in field meetings, oversight of subcontractors, contribute to and following safe work practices, developing/following/implementing safety plans and a day to day basis, recognizing hazards, confidence in exercising stop work authority.
Minimum Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience in Environmental Remediation or Drilling.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Diploma in Environmental Technology/Geological Technology or equivalent technical training.
  • Strong team work, able to listen to requirements and work well with others.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a thorough approach to work.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Possess good writing skills.
  • Ability to learn new tasks.
  • Flexible and hard working.
  • Willing to travel within the province/country for work.
