Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a creative, self-driven, highly talented Senior Transportation Planner to join a large, dynamic, and highly technical team of planners, engineers, and technicians in the Franklin, TN office. This position requires knowledge in transportation planning, urban land use, and communications. The successful candidate will also need to be able to market these capabilities to existing and prospective clients as they grow this department. The position is to lead and deliver on work tasks for planning and environmental projects and studies for statewide, regional/MPO, local agencies and transportation authorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage planning projects for state, MPO/regional agencies, local governments, and transit and transportation authorities.
  • Manage the preparation of planning reports and studies.
  • Present ideas and results of reports and studies clients and the public.
  • Mentor and develop staff, provide leadership and an environment that encourages teamwork, initiative, and growth.
  • Guide project teams on complex technical issues.
  • Supervision, coordination, and production of several projects concurrently.
  • Travel within Tennessee as required to serve the clients and projects - Periodic travel to clients in other states may also be required

    Minimum Requirements
    • Bachelors in Planning related field (urban studies, planning, etc)
    • Minimum 6 years of either planning with MPO's, DOT's and municipalities, and other related various regional/municipal/land use planning projects or 6 years of NEPA analysis/documentation with the Tennessee Department of Transportation and/or FHWA or other state or National DOT experience.

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Master’s degree in Planning-related field (urban studies, planning, etc.)
      • AICP
      • GIS experience
      • Projects with TDOT, TN municipalities, or other state DOTs
      • ​Ability to work effectively in a team-based, collaborative environment
      • Must be an excellent communicator, both written and oral
