Description

Job Summary
At AECOM, we believe infrastructure creates opportunity for everyone. Whether it’s improving your commute, keeping the lights on, providing access to clean water or transforming skylines, our work helps people and communities thrive.

As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will work closely with our Water Team and other supply discipline teams nationwide. You will be expected to deliver a high calibre of technical quality, contribute to bids, and converse with clients and collaborators in design and planning. You will seek innovation and trial new methods, being inquisitive by nature, and will see delivery through from conception to handover.

You will be responsible for the design of the mechanical elements of infrastructure & non-infrastructure water and wastewater assets, including: pumping stations, ventilation systems, penstocks and valves, odour control systems, sludge treatment, chemical dosing, air systems and pipework layouts.

This role will include site visits where you will carry out site surveys and support liaisons with clients, government authorities, contractors and suppliers. You will be tasked with delivering to agreed budget, programme and quality.

  • Production of specifications, calculations and WIMES data sheets.
  • Experience providing input into detailed design drawings, pipe schedule and mechanical plant layouts.
  • Experience providing input into process and instrument diagrams, control philosophy and HAZOP reviews.
  • Industry recognised Health and Safety qualifications.
  • Sound knowledge of WIMES Specifications and UK water companies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering.
  • Chartered or working towards chartership with relevant professional institute; for example, IMechE.
