AECOM’s Water Infrastructure Team is looking for a passionate Senior Civil Engineer. Responsible for preparation of Civil/Site Drawings, supporting Calculations and Specifications. You will coordinate the flow of technical documents (requisitions, drawings, specifications, calculations) between interfacing engineering disciplines.

The Water team brings together the skills of project managers, hydrologists, flood engineers, water scientists, numerical modellers, and environmental and planning specialists to provide integrated, sustainable and cost-effective solutions. Activities include planning, feasibility, design, project management, and asset management functions for; flood defences, dams, water supply and water treatment plants, pumping stations, pipe networks, sewerage, wastewater treatment plants, and outfalls.

Our clients include local, national and global organisations, including water utilities, drainage authorities and ports throughout Ireland and the UK. Duties include:
  • Responsibility for the preparation and successful completion of all Civil/Site deliverables.
  • Production of technical calculations to high standards of quality using current computer software.
  • Preparation of technical specifications.
  • Review of work produced by others to ensure timely and accurate results.
  • Line management of junior staff and completion of performance evaluations for those assigned.
  • Ensuring compliance of design with all applicable standards and regulations, providing the seal and signature of the professional engineer when required by statute or contract.
  • Provision of technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.
  • Conducting surveys, studies, site visits and investigations.
  • Provision of field support for construction projects.
  • Recommendation and preparation of technical papers.
  • Contributions to determining budget estimates and staffing requirements for defined project scopes and schedules.
  • Provision of support in the preparation of bids for new work, and in other business development activities as needed.

Minimum Requirements
Unfortunately we are unable to progress applications requiring visa sponsorship for this position.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Post graduate experience in design and management of civil infrastructure and/or non-infrastructure schemes.
  • Ability to take on elements of design or report and work on your own initiative.
  • Experience in compiling feasibility studies on civil infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in developing and promoting Safety in Design practices throughout designs.
  • Knowledge and experience in the Northern Ireland Water and Irish Water’s technical standards.
  • Experience in the development of contract preparation and administration using NEC and/or FIDIC forms of contract.
  • Experience in technical checking and reviewing drawings and calculations.
  • Understanding and working experience of wastewater discharge legislations.
  • Experience in developing capital and operational costs for wastewater and/or water infrastructure and/or non-infrastructure schemes.
  • AutoCAD experience and proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MEng degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Understanding and working experience of wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure design standards and specifications.
  • Experience in mentoring and guiding junior staff.
  • Working towards chartership.
  • Network modelling experience.
