Are you a Senior Bridge Engineer who is recently chartered or close to becoming chartered looking to join a team that have an established track record of successfully delivering bridge engineering schemes for more than 30 years throughout the UK, as well as supporting other disciplines with our specialist input?

Our Cardiff office has an established track record of successfully delivering major transport schemes. Our modern office in the heart of Cardiff is within easy reach of Cardiff Central Station, Cardiff Castle, and Cardiff Bay and comprises a vibrant and diverse mix of sectors and disciplines including Buildings & Places, Environment, Programme Cost Consulting and a large Transportation team including both Highways, Rail and Bridges disciplines. The team provides design, assessment, inspection, repair / remediation, construction support and management services on a wide range of transport infrastructure projects.

Civils Assessment Framework Agreement (CAFA) – AECOM appointed across five routes for the CAFA framework contracts. Our Cardiff team leads the delivery of the Wales Route and supports Western and Wessex Routes in undertaking Level 1 & Level 2 assessments of overbridges, footbridges and underbridges to a multitude of structural materials and structure forms.

South Wales Trunk Road Agent (SWTRA) – AECOM are engaged to provide engineering support services within the ‘Central’ section. Recent schemes have included pier impact assessments / strengthening and feasibility studies for the refurbishment of salt barns.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Take a leading role in the implementation of health & safety and wellbeing best practice into the delivery of all works.
  • Take a leading role in the design of major civil engineering structures.
  • Prepare designs under minimal supervision.
  • Assist with the commercial and financial control of your project.
  • Analysis and detailed design of road/rail bridges and other structures.
  • Inspection, assessment and strengthening of road/rail bridges and other structures.
  • Supervision and line management of graduate engineers and technicians.
Minimum Requirements
  • Experience with bridge and related structural inspection assessment and design schemes.
  • Proven design and project management experience delivering to quality, time and budget.
  • Experience in road and/or rail projects.
  • High level technical skills in current inspection, assessment and design.
  • Previous exposure with clients of both national and local authorities, together with major contractors.
  • Ability to manage staff and project Health and Safety responsibilities including compliance with CDM legislation.
  • You will have a current clean driving license and be willing to travel throughout the UK to visit sites.
  • Strong ability in various software packages ideally including LUSAS and MIDAS with experience in Finite Element Analysis preferred.
  • Good knowledge and experience of the following: Eurocode, British, National Highways and Network Rail Standards.
  • Good experience in delivering bridge design through National Highways and Network Rail standards
