AECOM is seeking a Quality Specialist to be based in San Diego, California.


The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing a cursory review of Contractor submittals for completeness and compliance with the specification requirements while monitoring the Submittal and RFI review process.

  • Receiving, logging, and coordinate the processing of all project submittals, RFI’s and RFC’s

  • Actively maintain As-Build design drawings with latest information resulting from submittal and RFI responses

  • Facilitate and assist in communications between Contractor, Owner, Project Design Engineer, and the Project Manager.

  • Respond to Contractor letters of correspondence providing interpretation of contract drawings and specifications to resolve problems or conflicts arising on site.

  • Confers with superiors on unusual matters.

  • Leads project-wide system audits, as directed by a more senior Quality Assurance Specialist or Program Manager.

  • Writes quality plans, procedures and audit checklists.

  • Verifies quality standards and test procedures for the design and product evaluation to attain quality economically and efficiently.

  • Provides quality assurance support to ensure that products are acquired and installed in accordance with customer and company quality requirements.

  • Ensure sampling plans, quality standards and quality control instructions are utilized in assessing the quality levels of projects and processes.

  • Documents evaluation, testing and correction.

  • Provides recommendations concerning the disposition of defective materials and maintains a continuous awareness of quality problems.

  • Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities.

  • Under general supervision, possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures to the completion of difficult assignments.

  • Completes assignments that are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity.

  • May provide technical guidance to lower level engineers, technicians and inspectors.

Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid driver's license required
Preferred Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree plus 5 years of relevant experience

  • Clear, demonstrated experience in the development and documentation of policies and procedures

  • Background in compliance and reporting

  • Excellent communication skills for interfacing with internal and external contacts

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Efficient with Microsoft Office
