Job Summary

It’s a hugely exciting time to join AECOM’s external communications team as we continue to deliver PR programmes on projects from major urban transport schemes to remote rewilding initiatives, gaining national and international media attention.
We’re looking for a Press Officer who will be responsible for promoting and protecting the AECOM brand with media stakeholders and audiences. The post holder will be part of the external communications team, responsible for delivering AECOM’s media relations strategy across Europe and India. The ideal candidate will have an interest in the built environment and sustainability. They will be highly skilled at absorbing information, spotting news angles, extracting knowledge from subject experts and creating must-read stories for a range of audiences. The ability to transform technical material produced by specialists into compelling content is essential.

Job Duties

  • Working as part of the Europe and India marketing and communications team
  • Work across several business lines to support AECOM’s business growth

  • Respond to press enquiries

  • Respond to the media during crisis situations and safeguard AECOM’s reputation

  • Develop relationships with key journalists to ensure AECOM’s perspective is sought actively by media contacts

  • Draft and distribute press releases and opinion pieces

  • Produce weekly media coverage reports for key internal stakeholders

  • Create engaging copy for social media, promoting the profile of AECOM and its leadership team

Minimum Requirements
  • A proven track record in media relations

  • A proven track record of rapid responses to media enquiries across complex issues in either a large-scale business, political or third sector environment

  • Excellent writing and communication skills

  • Experience of using social media

  • The ability to digest complex information often under stringent time constraints

  • Ability to provide fresh communications thinking
