AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to be responsible for the design of projects within the Winnipeg, MB office. AECOM offers a flexible combination of work from home and work from the office.

Job Summary :
This individual must be a licensed Professional Engineer and will be responsible for the mechanical design of a number of different buildings projects. We are searching for someone who enjoys working within a strong multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities include client communication, consultant coordination, design development, drawing review and contract administration. We are looking for an individual with experience in industrial, commercial, and municipal projects with broad skills in all phases of project delivery. They must have strong, hands-on technical knowledge. Experience in field review and contract administration is essential.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform as Mechanical Engineer.
  • Prepare creative, functional and innovative designs for clients.
  • Assist in the development of proposals, attract new clients and retain current clients as required.
  • Meet with clients to discuss potential new work and/or review project requirements.
  • Supervise and mentor within a team environment.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers, designers and technical staff; provide direction to help others meet objectives.
  • Assist in the development of standard design details and specifications as needed.
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization.
  • Prepare design and contract documents, provide document checking, conduct construction review and contract administration throughout the duration of a project.
  • Provide QA/QC review of work prepared by other group members.
  • Communicate with construction team to provide information and solve problems.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineer
  • 4+ years of relevant experience doing Mechanical Design work on institutional, commercial and municipal buildings (or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education).
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer eight (8) + years of relevant experience doing Mechanical Design work on institutional, commercial and municipal buildings (or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.)
  • Thorough knowledge of building systems and construction detailing.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated strong creativity in design.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
  • Exceptional technical knowledge of building construction and Provincial Building Codes.
  • Ability to manage production of a number of projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work within and lead in a team environment.
  • Ability to co-ordinate with a multi-disciplinary in-house consultant team.
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning.
  • Candidate must be dedicated to working hard with an all-hands-on-deck attitude towards completing the work efficiently and accurately.
  • LEED certification and project experience are a strong asset.
  • Strong business acumen and people manager skills are an asset.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit is desired.
  • Experience with Carrier’s HAP and McQuay “Ductsizer” programs are desired.
  • Experience with energy modeling software such as Trane “TRACE 700”, “eQuest” and “DOE-2” is desired.
