Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Graduate Process Engineer to be based in Austin, Texas.

This position is expected to begin in October 2022.

Our scope of services span from consulting to detailed design and from conceptual development through turnkey project delivery. Our expertise encompasses numerous environmentally focused areas: Air Pollution Control; Alternative Fuels; Carbon Capture & Sequestration; CCGT Modernization; Long-duration Energy Storage; PFAS Treatability; Process Development & Implementation; Site Remediation; Solid Waste & Byproduct Management; and Water Management and Wastewater Treatment. Typical projects are throughout North America and can range in value from $100,000 to $100,000,000, and can encompass all phases of project execution, including engineering, procurement and construction.


The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work under the direction of a Lead Process Engineer and the Process Engineering Team Lead. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop Process Design Basis, Material Balance and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs),

  • Size equipment and connecting piping,

  • Develop and maintain Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), project lists, and equipment datasheets,

  • Develop Operating Manual and Process Control Strategy,

  • Assist with equipment procurement and bid evaluation,

  • Support laboratory, bench, pilot and full-scale test programs,

  • Support commissioning and start-up activities; and

  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement effective cost reductions.

  • Able to read/interpret technical specifications and technical standards.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer in Training (EIT).

  • Experienced with simulation tools like AspenTech HYSYS and AspenPlus

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and team-building skills

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and multitask.

  • Strong analytical skills - must be able to gather data and extract conclusions from available information.

  • Strong computer skills (Proficiency in MS Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint). AutoCAD experience is a plus.

  • Ability to independently travel as needed (travel required: up to 20%)
