Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated GIS Specialist II in our Austin, TX office with the option to work 100% remotely. AECOM is currently under an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract providing production and technical services for the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning (Risk MAP) program from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Under this contract, AECOM provides engineering and other technical services nationwide, including production of effective, flexible and sustainable Risk MAP products to develop and implement tools to protect the United States from floods and other related hazardous conditions.
This person will be an integral part of the team, utilizing their knowledge of GIS, Data Management, and problem-solving skills to support our client. That candidate will support mapping and database development for riverine floodplain mapping studies for developing Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs).
The successful candidate for the GIS Specialist II position will have the ability to assist in managing projects and project teams to support on-going projects and quality control. The ideal candidate will need to thrive in an often times fast-paced environment, have attention to detail, and provide a broad range of floodplain mapping skills and possess QA/QC capabilities.

Responsibilities may include:
- Develop and maintain databases, reports, and mapping
- Create, organize, manipulate, and retrieve GIS data for reporting, analysis, and presentation purposes
- Perform quality assurance of GIS data and associated graphic components
- Use concepts, practices and procedures to extract and provide GIS data to clients
- Support natural disasters incidents when they occur
- Prepare and maintain internal and external project documentation
- May direct the work of Level I/II GIS Specialists. Responsibilities could include overall project or task management and quality review
- Independently executes and delivers GIS projects of moderate to significant scope and complexity
- Experience with the FEMA Risk Map Program

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree In Geography or a related field
- Due to the nature of projects this position will support, US Citizenship is required
- Two (2) years of previous ArcGIS experience
Preferred Qualifications
- AutoCAD experience is preferred
- HEC-RAS is preferred
