AECOM is seeking an Environmental Scientist for our Fort Belvoir location located near our Arlington, VA office. You will be working on the stormwater compliance team. Responsibilities will include:
- Lead or support permit compliance inspections, project reviews, training, reporting and recordkeeping as required by the Virginia Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (VPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4).
- Lead or support construction erosion and sediment control (ESC) and stormwater management (SWM) site inspections.
- Lead or support ESC and SWM plan reviews, pollution prevention training plan implementation, and Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) requirements on projects on land disturbing projects.
- Lead or support CGP permit and BMP databases with up-to-date stormwater BMP inspection and maintenance.
- Lead or support the investigation of illicit discharges and prepare reports and related documentation related to outfall screenings and corrective actions and the completion of illicit discharge detection and elimination (IDDE) plan updates.
- Lead or support the preparation of VADEQ Registration Statement for MS4 General Permit Re-application, including mapping, and updates to TMDL Action Plans.
- Lead or support the preparation of MS4 Program Annual Reports and MS4 Program Plans, data compilation and evaluation for the MS4 annual report and Program Plan and compliance records management.
- Lead or support public outreach events and public education submittals.
- Participate in high-profile, complex planning projects, such as watershed studies, water regional master plans, MS4 NPDES stormwater permit programs, and other planning or restoration studies
- Lead or support watershed and water quality assessments and conventional aspects of watershed planning and BMP prioritization
- Lead or participate in field work including environmental sampling, stormwater BMP inspection and maintenance, BMP retrofit assessments, and stream evaluations
- Prepare written and graphic reports and make presentations
- Prepare basic data and scientific documents regarding stormwater, water quality, watershed management, and best management practices
- Understanding of surface water quality, stormwater quality, and stormwater management in construction and post-construction settings, hydrology, fluvial processes, and applicable rules and regulations.

Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS with 2 + years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- US Citizenship Required
- Relocation is not offered for this position
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience within the DOD
- 3+ years of experience
- Consulting experience
