AECOM is seeking an Environmental Planner to be based in Honolulu, HI.
This position is expected to begin in December 2022.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Use ArcGIS and other online tool to evaluate site conditions and permitting requirements.
Prepare figures in ArcGIS.
- Prepare permit applications including: Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 404 and Rivers and Harbors Section 10 Permits, CWA Section 401 Water Quality Certification, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permits, Special Management Area (SMA) Permits, and Conservation District Use Permits.
Prepare letters, forms, evaluations, and assessments for consultation with resource agencies under Section 7 for the Endangered Species Act (ESA), Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS) Chapter 6E Historic Preservation Review, HRS Chapter 195D for effects to biological resource, and Essential Fish Habitat Assessments.
Assist with preparation of Categorical Exclusion documentation, Declarations of Exemption, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements under the National Environmental Policy Act and HRS Chapter 343.
Assist in identification, inventory, and evaluation of potential effects to historic resources; through review of State and National Register of Historic Places, prior archeological and historic resources studies, GIS and other online database tools, historic maps, and land use history.
Assist in identification of potential effects to biological resources and development of avoidance and minimization measures for potential effects.
Communicate and interface with clients and regulatory agencies.
Identify and make recommendations based on review of applicable environmental laws, codes, rules, and regulations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Work closely with a team of environmental planners and engineers.
A desire to support clients, improve infrastructure, protect and improve the natural environment, and deliver projects.
Positions involves some fields work for site visits and to support biological surveys, ordinary high water mark surveys, wetland delineations, and historic resource documentation. This work may involve off trail hiking and minor digging with hand tools.
Work would be approximately 95% office and 5% field work.
- BA/BS in Biology, Ecology, Archeology, Historic Preservation, Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- Due to the nature of this role, US citizenship or Green card holder/permanent residence is required.
Proficient in ArcGIS
Basic skills in AutoCAD
- Prior experience with the job responsibilities listed above.
