Job Summary

AECOM Environment is seeking an experienced, Environmental Planner for immediate employment in our Oakland, CA office.

*This is a part-time position, meaning work days and times will be determined on an as-needed basis.

The successful candidate will join our Environmental Planning and Permitting team. You will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering environmental planning, impact assessment, permitting and compliance services to our key clients. Our Northern California Environmental Planning and Permitting team serves numerous federal, state and local government, non-governmental organization, and private industry clients, delivering a variety of resource management, infrastructure, and development-related projects.

As part of our team, the successful applicant will support environmental planning services throughout a project life cycle, including:

  • Working with Project Managers and project team members in completing CEQA/NEPA documentation as well as other approval and permitting activities for infrastructure projects.
  • Researching, conceptualizing, planning, and writing drafts of documents related to project planning, impact assessment, and permitting.
  • Collaborating with technical and professional staff across the company in completing assignments.
  • Providing leadership in mentoring personnel, including reviewing their work for accuracy and clarity and providing constructive feedback.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering) or similar.
  • 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/ or education.
  • A valid U.S. Driver's license is required for this role.
  • Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years' experience successfully supporting environmental impact analysis documents and associated technical studies
  • Master's Degree in related field
  • Experience preparing environmental documents
  • Strong research and analytical abilities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the editing, oversight or preparation of technical reports
  • Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously
