Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a mid-level Environmental Engineer to be based in either our Orange, Los Angeles or Long Beach, CA locations.

Responsibilities of the position include:

• Research, review, and analyze water quality policy and regulations.
• Lead regulatory compliance tasks relating to storm water and wastewater management.
• Manage and conduct storm water sampling and inspections
• Prepare and review Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs).
• Review and assess compliance methodologies employed at a facility and provide feedback and creative solutions to reduce overall risk of non-compliance.
• Mentor and supervise junior staff while managing tasks of varying sizes and complexity.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 4 years of engineering experience focused on water quality compliance
  • Certified as a Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP) or Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD)
  • Valid Driver's license required for role
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6 years of engineering experience focused on water quality compliance
  • P.E License is preferred, but not required.
  • 2 years environmental consulting experience is highly desired
  • Strong focus and attention to detail
  • Project management experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations that implement the Clean Water Act
  • Strong writing, critical thinking, and reasoning skills
  • Experience reviewing and/or writing Spill Prevention Countermeasure Control (SPCC) Plans
