AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Geologist to be based in our Sacramento, CA office. This position will support our Remediation team within our Environment business line.
This position is expected to begin December 2022.
The Entry-Level Geologist will serve as a team member in the office and the field, assisting project and program management with design and implementation of soil, groundwater, sediment and surface water investigative and remediation programs, data analysis, and report preparation.
The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities include soil and groundwater sampling, assessments, data collection and technical document preparation.
Utilizes scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
Requires general familiarity within a broad field of scientific knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines/fields.
Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Conducts analysis and investigation work obtained from a variety of sources.
Performs inspections and tests to ensure compliance.
Support execution of projects involving soil and groundwater investigation, compliance, and remediation activities in accordance with regulatory programs.
Assisting Project Managers inefficient execution of project scope of work on time and within budget.
Providing field services for site investigation, drilling, soil, air, and groundwater sample collection, and related work.
Provide office support for data management and report preparation.
Must demonstrate a professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employees.
Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Geological Sciences, or related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required
Valid U.S. Driver's License
OSHA 40-hour certification a plus
Great oral and written communication skills
Ability to understand and supervise advancement of soil borings and installation of monitoring wells
Ability to demonstrate a primarily technical role in multiple site characterization, subsurface investigation, and remediation projects at various client sites
Understand and assist with site conceptual models
Collect and evaluate environmental data in field and office settings
Prepare investigation reports and drawings
Possess technical report writing skills
Independent fieldwork and leadership of field teams, as well as contractor oversight
The selected candidate will be required to complete 40-hour HAZWOPER training or annual refresher class if needed
Selected Candidate will also receive First Aid/CPR training and AECOM specific training
Learn and develop a keen understanding of hazard recognition; and environmental investigation or remediation
