Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Controllership Manager to help fill a critical role on the Finance Controllership Team assisting the Design and Consulting Services Group (DCS). This position offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement to include a combination of office and remote schedule and can be based in one of the following locations: Orange, CA; Austin, TX; Houston, TX; Chelmsford, MA.

Responsibilities and Duties:


•Provides direction and operational leadership for Accounting initiatives.
•Ensures the accurate and timely completion of General Ledger monthly closings in accordance with GAAP.
•Ensures accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting related to General Ledger accounts and conducts monthly balance sheet review.
•Provides technical accounting support to management including analysis of accounting implications of business transactions.
•Stays abreast of industry best practices and implements those that drive efficiency and effectiveness.
•Develops and maintains collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders and internal business groups responsible for strategies, process consolidations, process improvements, system developments/implementations, and value-added initiatives (i.e. Accounting, Operations, IT, Shared Services, FP&A, Legal).
•Provides for planning, staffing, goal setting, supporting system initiatives, and implementing new processes and policies for Accounting.
•Cultivates an environment that encourages maximum productivity and service effectiveness, professional development, open communication, and teamwork.
•Ensures appropriate training and knowledge transfer occurs across all relevant business processes.
•Adheres to all Sarbanes-Oxley, internal policies, audit procedures and regulations to ensure full compliance; monitors established control points; coordinates audit processes for the accounting area.
•Works on complex accounting issues requiring an in-depth knowledge of the company and independent decision making.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field + 8 years of related accounting/financial experience, including General Ledger managerial experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA certification
• Experience with large ERP systems – Oracle E-Business Suite
• Experience with Blackline Systems
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Ability to actively engage stakeholders, clients, and staff to ensure processes are executed consistently
• Ability to motivate and influence others
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and to thrive under tight deadlines and high-pressure situations
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
• Working knowledge of MS Office
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Must be able to work independently (virtually) and exercise good judgment
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• Highly detail oriented, well organized and self-starter
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proven record of process improvement and streamlining functions
