The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Topographic surveying of municipal roads, subdivisions, industrial and commercial sites, stormwater management ponds, watercourses, bathymetry, etc. using a variety of equipment including but not limited to: network RTK GPS rovers, robotic total station, sonar depth finders and boats
- Field collection and interpretation of SUE level C and D utility information
- Design for municipal infrastructure using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation
- Road reconstruction, land development, stormwater management and site plan design
- Lot grading design, surveying, and inspection/certification
- Working on complex data sets in conjunction with other CAD and GIS technical staff
- Ensuring overall data quality and integrity
- Prepare civil design drawings and design calculations
- Prepare quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for civil projects
- Prepare documentation for design projects and reports
- Undertake quality control procedures
- Assures that engineering related issues are promptly relayed to the Project Manager for action and follows up to assure timeliness of resolution efforts
- Occasional construction site inspection
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree + 2 years of related experience in municipal civil engineering surveying/ CAD/ design or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Experience creating base plans from collected survey data
- Experience working with GIS data
- Experience working with scanning technology (LIDAR, photogrammetry, etc.) and point clouds
- Experience in road reconstruction design, land development, lot grading, stormwater management and construction inspection
- Experience with quantity take-offs and cost estimating
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology preferred
- 5+ years of related experience in municipal civil engineering surveying/ CAD/ design
- Experience creating base plans from collected survey data
- Experience working with GIS data
- Experience working with scanning technology (LIDAR, photogrammetry, etc.) and point clouds
- Experience in road reconstruction design, land development, lot grading, stormwater management and construction inspection
- Experience with quantity take-offs and cost estimating
- Good time management skills
- Design experience with surface grading, watermain, sewer pipe networks, and detailed design
- Experience working with AutoCAD and Civil 3D (2016 to current versions) and Bentley Microstation V8i
- Experience performing topographic surveys using a variety of surveying equipment including GPS and total station
- Certified or eligible for certification as a C.E.T. and a member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists
- Proficient with MS Office Suite
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients
- Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Relocation is available for this position.
