AECOM is seeking an Archaeology Technician - Crew Chief to be based in Cincinnati, OH
Job Summary/Responsibilities
The Archaeological Crew Chief will assist with the direction and implementation of all aspects of fieldwork, working with a Field Director on one or more crews of archaeological surveyors, monitors, or excavators. Crew Chiefs may also assist with office-based tasks, including the preparation of site forms and technical reports under the supervision of a Principal Investigator. This is a part-time variable position, meaning workdays and times will vary based on project needs. Field projects could be located anywhere in the US, and travel will be required. Candidates will need a Valid Driver's License with a good driving record, and flexibility to travel overnight and out of state for up to 3+ months at a time. Lodging (single occupancy) and per diem will be provided. Pay rate will be based on individual qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assist with the supervision of aspects of archaeological survey, site recording and evaluations, and archaeological testing and data recovery under the direction of a Principal Investigator.
• Maintain and provide QA/WC of field documentation paperwork.
• Assist with office-based tasks, including performing Class I literature reviews, research, site form and technical report preparation.
• Promote AECOM safety and quality standards, policies and procedures and ensure field employees comply.
• Analyzing and documenting prehistoric and historic sites and artifacts.
• This position may consist of extensive manual labor including hiking with a heavy pack, excavation with shovels, and moving heavy dirt. The work will primarily take place outdoors and the Crew Chief may encounter variable weather and field conditions
• HS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
• Bachelors Archaeology or Related field
• 2+ years prior experience with Archaeology field Recon surveys
