  • Can consider Remote USA location with Los Angeles CA site visits approximately 1x/quarter.

How will you make an impact?

The Staff Scientist, R&D Sequencing will join a highly collaborative and motivated team of scientists and take part in the different stages of assay product development for the purpose of transplant diagnostics. The role will have a direct impact on improving the health of transplant patients.

What will you do?

  • Lead the design and development of sequencing-based molecular assays/products for transplant diagnostic applications

  • Participate in collaborative inter-departmental activities as the technical representative for R&D toward the common goal of producing quality products that can help improve the outcome for transplant recipients.

  • Write reports and present results, project, and technology assessments to Senior Management to enable them to make informed business decisions

  • Mentor and empower a team of highly motivated and dedicated scientists

How will you get here?

Education

  • Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Cell Biology, Genetics or a related field with 6+years of industrial experience, OR a Ph.D. degree with 3+ years with industry experience preferred.

Experience

  • Hands-on experience with NGS technologies, DNA isolation and quantification, gene amplification methods, gene target enrichment methods, quantitative PCR, and other relevant technologies

  • Well-developed written skills to prepare regular and routine reports, reviews, and white papers, as well as preparing presentations

  • Represent R&D to assist in process improvement, customer inquiries, staff training as needed

  • Hands-on experience in the development, optimization, and validation of molecular assays, preferably clinical diagnostic tests strongly preferred.

  • Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) and Critical Parameter Management highly preferred

  • Experience and/or knowledge in HLA is highly preferred

  • Experience in bioinformatics and statistics preferred
