Content Strategist - Participant Strategy Experience (PSx)

The Content & Editorial Team within Participant Strategy Experience (PSx) is seeking a Content Strategist to help us bring digital advice and financial wellness to millions of retirement plan participants across the country. As a Content Strategist, you'll serve as our primary content SME on the digital experience and marketing for these areas. You'll collaborate with marketing experts, journey owners, writers, editors, designers, leaders, design strategists, and external business partners to support business goals that are critical to the future of IIG, as well as ensure that all PSx content in these areas meets our standards for tone, voice, and readability.

In this role...

  • Partners with Marketing Managers and Product Owners to develop positioning and messaging, including the creation of creative briefs.

  • Creates a vision and strategy for copy in the areas of financial wellness and advice.

  • Drives content decisions for financial wellness and advice within the participant experience (CX).

  • Consults and provides expertise around existing wellness and advice copy across various channels and communications. Ensures consistency across channels and elements of the participant experience, and seeks optimization and improvement whenever possible.

  • Collaborates with creative teams to produce content that supports strategic initiatives, and ensures that copy goes through all quality and compliance approval steps.

  • Possesses executive presence to influence and persuade leaders and crew in driving optimal participant experiences. Must be able to diplomatically promote content with senior leadership and senior-level crew.

  • Has expertise in behavioral finance and our “Human. Simple. Coach” approach to writing. Incorporates in-depth knowledge on retirement plans and Vanguard services, the competitive landscape, and/or online communication media. Researches new topics as necessary.

  • Works with Legal and Compliance, as well as subject matter experts, to ensure that copy for new initiatives or products is correct and comprehensive, and meets legal standards.

  • Demonstrates initiative and creativity in identifying and meeting client and partner needs. Is able to work with the internal team to develop and execute creative, "outside-the-box" ideas.

  • Works with creative team and internal clients to ensure that all deadlines are met.

  • Responds to edits and changes from reviewers with flexibility, while maintaining quality and accuracy.

  • Serves as a mentor to writers, editors, and creative professionals throughout PSx.

  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

What it takes...

  • Minimum five years related work experience.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.

  • CFP or CFA preferred.

Future of Work

During the pandemic, we transitioned to a work from home model for the majority of our crew and we continue to interview, hire, and on-board future crew remotely.

When our Crew return to the office, many will work in our hybrid model. A smaller proportion of our crew will operate in the Work from Home work model (for example, field sales crew); or in the Work from Office model (for example, portfolio managers).
