Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Director, Building Services.

In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for the day to day operations of the department, assisting the Director and or Sr. Director and replacing him in his absence. Responsible for the strategic oversight, planning and outcomes of the following sub-departments within building services: Cleaning, Patient Transport and Linen.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director or Sr. Administrative Director.
    • Participate in Oversees and analyzes the operations of the transport and linen department. Focuses on transport turn-around times, patient safety and throughput, linen par levels, usage and quality. Ensures the departmental standard of customer service is practiced by all staff and management in the departments. Works with the Director of Building Services to standardized work practices, policies and procedures across all hospital campuses (Kimmel, TISCH, Lutheran & HJD).
    • Dictates the need and frequency of weekly training and re-training of mandatory in-services as required. Maintains history of attendance as well as oversees management responsible for the training of employees and supervisory staff. Ensures training is up to date and/or on target for completion. Works with EHS to ensure employees are up to date with annual assessments and fit testing. Must research trends and new equipment/processes and stay current with new training methods. Ability to train managerial and union staff.
    • Works to ensure the department safety program for patient transport is current, sustained and in practice by all staff. This includes, but is not limited to: SSSI (sixty-second safety inspection), ticket to ride and double identification.
    • Oversees the operation of the hospital wide uniform and scrub program. Predicts usage and appropriate unit par levels. Introduces new products and textiles to promote World Class Service.
    • Leads weekly WB meeting for management staff.
    • Organizes and co-chairs the monthly transport/linen meetings with key stakeholders. Reviews data, tracks trends, and submits action plans required to improve departmental performance.
    • Using Tableau; updates datasets daily and uploads to the departmental dashboard. Makes necessary changes to scorecards and reports to ensure the most visual representation of data is available for analysis.
    • Oversees the management of the patient bed and specialty bed program. This includes mattresses replacement and availability of beds throughout the medical center.
    • Works in conjunction with the manager to review and update as needed Epic for patient transport sectors, job and work assignments. Works in conjunction with the manager to efficiently manage Epic for Non-patient transport.
    • Manages, assesses and works to continuously improve the efficiency of all manned service elevators.
    • Refines and operationalize changes to promote the flow of equipment to and from transport staff and hubs. Ensures that beds, stretchers and wheelchairs are stored in accordance with regulatory rules/standards. Directs the staff assigned to the equipment process.
    • Conducts rounds to ensure compliance to standards and expectations as well as to provide support to the front line staff.
    • Drafts policies and procedures for the department as needed.
    • Works with recruitment to fill vacant positions. Conducts hiring interviews for both management and front line staff.
    • Using MSS updates employee statuses, departmental and payroll locations. Places employees on leave of absence, disability, and or makes any additional changes via MSS as required. Maintains the departmental position control sheet.
    • Controls expenses within area of responsibility.
    • Conducts annual evaluations for management staff. Is responsible for providing training and guidance to the management staff; putting them in the best possible position to be effective and successful.
    • Responsible for representing the department in a wide array of meetings to include: Infection Prevention, Environment of Care, Emergency Management, Rapid Improvement Events, P3, Labor Management and Sr. Leadership meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Associates Degree or experience in related field. Knowledge of computer accounting programs (Tableau), math skills as well as budgetary analysis capabilities required. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Service/quality attitude, be able to plan, organize and achieve effective time management and work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives. Have good public speaking skills and be able to represent the department in meetings and committees.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree or experience in related field.
