Job Family Summary

The System Support role for Allstate Investments is responsible for administration and maintenance of the applications used to account for the Allstate’s invested assets. This includes providing requirements, managing vendors, and partnering with Investment Technology to maintain and upgrade the Investment Accounting Systems.  This role also acts as a liaison between Investment Technology and Investment Operations Back Office.

Job Summary

The Accounting System Support Lead is primarily responsible for ensuring that Maximis is operating correctly and is current with all software releases and Allstate accounting policies.  The role is also responsible for coordinating upgrades with the vendor (SS&C) to ensure that requirements are accurate and that all testing is complete before system upgrades are installed.   This role is also accountable to work closely with Data Operations and Middle Office staff to ensure that process workflows are accurate and efficient.  

Key Responsibilities

Management

  • Perform as a product owner for Maximis and its accounting functions
  • Monitor status dashboards for Maximis and ensure appropriate actions are being taken
  • Contributes to the review of individual goals and provides feedback to team lead and manager
  • Contribute to team culture and motivate others team members to achieve optimal performance
  • Solves moderately complex problems and makes decisions that impacts team

 

Communication

  • Provide status and vendor metrics to team lead and managers
  • Define and communicate changing accounting policies and their impact on accounting procedures to ensure compliance
  • Build cross-functional partnerships
  • Foster a team environment

 

 

Key Responsibilities (cont.)

  • Interact with other organizational areas to investigate and resolve system related issues
  • Participate in efforts related to new investment products or strategies.  This includes researching, documenting system impacts, testing, training and implementation
  • At an intermediate level, engage and inspire other members of the team to continuously improve performance through increased effectiveness and efficiencies in their assignments, business processes and the workflow of the team.
  • Execution of special projects impacting the investment accounting system or its use
  • Responsible for creation and maintenance of investment accounting system security profiles
  • Assist in the vendor interaction of system maintenance, helpdesk issues and priorities
  • Participate in the Business Resumption test and maintenance of Living Disaster Recovery Planning System
  • Maintain a strong customer orientation focused on delivering high quality, well analyzed and timely deliverables.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience

  • Accounting/Finance degree required
  • CPA, MBA or CFA candidate preferred
  • 7+ years of professional accounting/investment accounting experience
  • 5+ years of managerial experience preferred, but not required
  • Advanced knowledge of investment accounting software
  • Intermediate knowledge of relational data bases
  • Intermediate knowledge of data base query tools such as SQL, InfoMaker, Oracle SQL Developer etc. 
  • Microsoft Excel, Access and SAP skills
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills
